I’m not saying this is easy…
Some people love to exercise. They relish their time at the gym and boast to others about how many miles they hike over the weekend in the Colorado mountains or on the state’s many trails. For me, it is an act of necessity, not pleasure.
It is a fitness journey that as I age, is focused on my longevity and overall wellbeing.
I was thin all of my childhood and only began to gain weight when I was a sophomore in college living in a suite with three other women. They were obsessed with their weight; calorie counting during the day, followed by late night binging from the refrigerator or from the local 7-Eleven. The three well balanced meals a day I grew up with were out the window! I fell into the rabbit hole and have been clawing my way out since.
It’s not that I don’t know what to do. It is just not what I want to do!
Personal training is one of the tools that helps me with my overall fitness journey. I have trained with a personal trainer before, but it was not until I met Song that I found my perfect trainer. She challenges me with an ever-changing circuit of exercises, combining cardio and strength. As a senior, I needed someone who would not push me as if I was 30 years old; I have had this experience, and it was not only brutal, but physically damaging. It’s a relief and blessing to me to have found a trainer that pushes me to be better and healthier in a way that is not off-putting and extreme.
I have been working with Song for two years now. My balance has improved, I can see my muscles, and I fit into my clothes better. Song is also a good listener and very sensitive to each of her client’s needs. And in the process, she has become a friend.
My goal is to age well so that I can continue to live independently, remain active and engaged with my children and grandchildren, and travel. Maintaining a healthy and strong body with regular workouts and personal training is (no pun intended) the backbone of my journey. ~C.G.
